About the Museum

The Belgian Navy Museum houses the unique collection of Johnny Geldhof, former marine of the Belgian Navy. This exceptional collection chronicles the complete history of Belgian naval service from World War II to the present day.

During WWII, 1,626 Belgian fishermen and sailors served in the Royal Navy Section Belge, fleeing German occupation to join the Allied war effort. They served on corvettes, destroyers, minesweepers, and patrol vessels across the Royal Navy fleet. After the war ended in January 1946, the Belgian Navy (Zeemacht) was established, later renamed to "Marine" in 1996.

From rare documents to authentic equipment - each item tells the continuing story of Belgian maritime defense and the brave men and women who served.
